Airflow as a Starting Point
Air movement plays an important role in the growing environment of leafy crops. AIR Gutter features an aerodynamic profile designed to direct air through and around the crop. This supports a more consistent microclimate throughout the growing environment. Airflow is no longer treated as a separate greenhouse function, but as an integral part of the gutter design.
Greater Control Over Water and Root Development
Differences in substrate moisture can lead to variation across the crop. AIR Gutter therefore includes an additional irrigation channel, allowing growers to manage moisture levels more accurately.
The dual NFT root zone design separates the substrate from the water channels. This creates a cleaner, more controllable root environment and supports the availability of water and oxygen around the roots.
Fewer Steps from Sowing to Harvest
The open gutter design allows seeds to be sown directly into the system. By eliminating the need for a separate transplanting stage, growers can reduce handling, labour requirements and unnecessary crop movement.
AIR Gutter has been developed to connect with HAWE’s wider cultivation process, including sowing, gutter transport, washing and harvesting. The system also integrates with the proven HAWE Mobile Gutter System.
