50 Years of the Rolling Container System
To mark this milestone, the company has released the book “Trust Gives Strength and Joy!”, which focuses on the origins and development of this revolutionary cultivation system. The book highlights the crucial role HAWE has played in the growth and global adoption of the system.
An innovation that changed the industry forever
The rolling container system was first introduced in 1975 at the nursery of brothers Teun and Henk Boekestijn in De Lier. With the technical expertise and vision of HAWE, led by pioneers such as Herman and Huub Wooning, the concept was further developed into a professional cultivation system that is now used worldwide.
Although no patent was filed at the time, the system has become one of the most widely used solutions in greenhouse horticulture today, with an estimated millions of rolling containers in circulation.
Book presentation: “Trust Gives Strength and Joy!”
The first copy of the book, written by Fred Louter, was presented to Teun Boekestijn. The publication includes interviews with key figures such as former director Huub Wooning and former co-owner Maarten de Jager. Their memories and insights paint a unique picture of the system’s development and the influence HAWE has had throughout the process.
The idea for the book originated from Aad Verduijn, who felt that this valuable piece of history should not be lost. The result is an inspiring tribute to the innovative strength of the horticultural sector.
